Top four US Open seeds reach women’s semi-finals for first time since 1975
Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina have completed a historic semi-final line-up at the 2026 US Open.
The top four seeds in the women’s US Open singles draw have reached the semi-finals for the first time since 1975, according to BBC Sport.
Aryna Sabalenka will face Jessica Pegula in the first semi-final, while Elena Rybakina will meet Coco Gauff. All four players reached the last four after three-set matches.
The line-up also marks the first time since Wimbledon in 2009 that the top four-ranked players have reached the women’s semi-finals at a Grand Slam, BBC Sport reported.
Rybakina is set to replace Sabalenka as world number one on Monday, ending Sabalenka’s reported 99-week reign at the top. The ranking change remains subject to official confirmation.
Sabalenka is seeking a third consecutive US Open title. Gauff won the tournament in 2023, while Pegula is the only remaining player yet to win a Grand Slam singles title.
