Thunder's Williams says he's healthy entering WCF
Oklahoma City wing ends six-game absence caused by left hamstring strain

Oklahoma City Thunder wing Jalen Williams has declared himself healthy and fit to play in the upcoming Western Conference finals, ending a six-game absence caused by a Grade 1 strain in his left hamstring. The player, who missed the final six games of the regular season and the entire first round of the playoffs, utilised the extended break to ensure full recovery before the next phase of the postseason.

Williams stated in a video posted to his YouTube channel on Friday that the Thunder’s 3-0 series lead over the Los Angeles Lakers allowed him to take extra recovery days beyond his original plan. He emphasised that there was no pressure to rush back, noting that avoiding further injury was prioritised over immediate return. "I'm about to go into another series healthy," Williams said, adding that he did not need to push his body in the same manner as during his previous injury-plagued season.

Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault confirmed that Williams was "progressing" and dressed out for Friday’s practice session. However, the organisation is not required to provide an official medical status update until the evening before the series opener. Daigneault declined to elaborate further on the player’s specific readiness levels during the post-practice media availability.

The Thunder are preparing to face either the Minnesota Timberwolves or the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference finals. Williams suffered the current left hamstring strain during the third quarter of Game 2 against the Phoenix Suns, limiting him to 23 minutes of play in that victory. He had started the playoffs strongly, recording 22 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in the opening game.

During Williams’ absence, Ajay Mitchell stepped into the starting lineup and averaged 22.5 points and 6.0 assists in four games against the Los Angeles Lakers. Williams, a third-team All-NBA selection last season, had previously missed the first 19 games of the regular season due to right wrist surgery and was sidelined for two extended stretches due to a right hamstring strain.
