The Red Raiders and the Longhorns secured their places in the title series by winning their respective elimination games on Monday, advancing to a rematch of the 2025 national final.

The 2025 series concluded with Texas defeating Texas Tech in a three-game set. The Longhorns won the opening game before the Red Raiders took the second to force a decisive third match, which Texas won 10-4 to claim the national title.

Both programmes reached the final through high-stakes elimination contests on Monday. Texas defeated Tennessee twice to secure their spot in the championship series.

Texas Tech advanced by defeating Alabama 2-0 in their elimination game. The victory was highlighted by a walk-off home run from Mia Williams, which helped the Red Raiders overcome the Crimson Tide to reach the final.
