Texas has moved to No. 1 in Joel Klatt’s latest 2026 college football rankings after overcoming a 20-point deficit to defeat Ohio State by one point in Week 2.

Klatt described the game as an “instant classic” and said the result justified placing Texas above the other leading teams. His rankings are a personal assessment, rather than an official or consensus standings list.

The move puts the Longhorns at the top after a result Klatt viewed as more significant than a comfortable win over an untested opponent. The supplied rankings material does not include the complete top-10 list.

Utah was listed at No. 10 after opening the season 2–0. Fox Sports also discussed USC, Alabama and Notre Dame in Klatt’s assessment, although the available source material does not provide the full ranking order.
