The 35-year-old, who portrayed Dani Rojas in the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso between 2020 and 2023, will now transition from acting to a professional playing role for the Texas-based club.
Fernandez’s footballing background traces back to his youth career in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he played before stepping away from the sport at the age of 15 due to a knee injury. After relocating to London, he pursued an acting career that led to his casting in Ted Lasso, a programme that won multiple awards during its initial three-series run.
