Tate brothers arrested in US as UK expands criminal charges
Andrew and Tristan Tate taken into custody by US Marshals as prosecutors allege further offences of rape, trafficking and child pornography dating back to 2010.

Andrew and Tristan Tate have been arrested in the United States following the announcement of additional criminal charges by UK authorities. The arrests were executed by US Marshals and confirmed as part of ongoing extradition proceedings initiated by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which seeks to transfer the dual British-US citizens to Britain to face trial.
The CPS confirmed that the charging decisions followed the receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police. Andrew Tate now faces seven additional counts of rape, alongside charges relating to sex trafficking and child pornography. His brother, Tristan Tate, has been charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Special Crime Division at the Crown Prosecution Service, stated that the new allegations bring the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven. The CPS noted that the alleged offending occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. A spokesperson for the US Department of Justice confirmed the arrests were made pursuant to these extradition proceedings.
The brothers’ legal representative, Joseph McBride, dismissed the new charges as “filth and slander,” alleging they were politically motivated retaliation against defamation claims the Tates have filed in the United States. Speaking to the Associated Press, McBride asserted that the charges were an attempt to prevent the brothers from getting their day in court, claiming the Department of Justice was engaging in an abuse of authority.
These developments follow a series of legal milestones in the case. In May 2025, prosecutors confirmed a list of 21 charges the brothers would eventually face, relating to offences alleged between 2012 and 2016. In 2024, Bedfordshire Police secured European arrest warrants to return the pair from Romania, where they were based. In June, the brothers lost a legal bid to have the names of their UK accusers disclosed, with the CPS deciding to withhold identities until legal action formally commenced. The Tates have previously denied any wrongdoing.
