Steelers to name captains weekly under Mike McCarthy

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy says the team will select captains weekly, ending its previous practice of retaining season-long captains.
McCarthy announced the format during a Monday press conference, saying Burt Lauten would communicate the selections once they had been made.
The Steelers have not identified which players will serve as captains for any particular week.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, defensive tackle Cam Heyward and outside linebacker T.J. Watt were among last season’s player-voted captains and remain with Pittsburgh.
