Wembanyama scores 33 as Spurs rip Thunder to level NBA playoffs
Wembanyama’s 33 points and 17 forced turnovers halt Oklahoma City’s playoff momentum

The San Antonio Spurs have levelled the NBA Western Conference Finals series at two games apiece, securing a commanding 103-82 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 4. Played at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, the win halts Oklahoma City’s momentum after they had taken a 2-1 series lead with a 123-108 victory in Game 3. The Spurs, who trailed the series prior to Sunday night’s contest, forced 17 turnovers and held the defending champions to their lowest score of the playoffs.

Victor Wembanyama was the central figure in San Antonio’s resurgence, finishing with 33 points. The 22-year-old centre shot 11-of-22 from the floor and 3-of-7 from three-point range, adding eight rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots, and two steals in 31 minutes. Wembanyama also sank a half-court shot at the buzzer to end the first half, giving the Spurs a 50-38 lead and finishing with 22 first-half points.

The Spurs opened the third quarter with a 15-5 run, extending their lead to 65-43 and effectively sealing the game. Devin Vassell and Stephon Castle each scored 13 points for San Antonio, while De’Aaron Fox added 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Spurs stretched their lead to 25 points during the contest, while the Thunder were never ahead by more than a single point.

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson highlighted the team’s defensive discipline as the key to their success. “Any time we can turn defence into offence, turnovers and rebounding, that’s when we’re at our best,” Johnson said. The Spurs recorded 11 steals in total, stifling the Thunder, who had entered the game unbeaten on the road in the 2026 playoffs with a 5-0 record.

The series now shifts to Oklahoma City for Game 5 on Tuesday, with Game 6 scheduled for Thursday in San Antonio. The Spurs are seeking their first NBA title since 2014, while the Thunder are attempting to become the first back-to-back champions since Golden State in the 2017-2018 season.
