Spurs-Thunder: Victor Wembanyama beats first-half buzzer with halfcourt shot in dominant first half
Wembanyama’s half-court shot caps dominant first half as San Antonio leads 50-38

The San Antonio Spurs entered the second half of Game 4 of the Western Conference finals on Sunday with a 50-38 lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder. The contest, held at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, saw the home side extend their advantage in a series where they currently trail 2-1.

Victor Wembanyama was the primary driver of San Antonio’s first-half performance. He finished the period with 22 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. His output stood in contrast to the broader offensive struggles of the game, as neither team managed to shoot 37 per cent from the field during the opening 24 minutes.

Wembanyama concluded the first half with a half-court shot as the buzzer sounded. According to reports, he had called for the ball deep in the backcourt specifically to set up the attempt. The shot was made while he was surrounded by three Thunder defenders, and it successfully extended San Antonio’s lead as the teams headed to the locker room.

The Spurs entered the match facing a must-win scenario. A loss would have placed them in a 3-1 series deficit, with the series scheduled to shift back to Oklahoma City for Game 5. The Thunder had established their 2-1 advantage following a 123-108 victory in Game 3, which marked the first time since mid-January that the Spurs had suffered consecutive defeats.

Game 4 was televised nationally on NBC and streamed on Peacock. Tip-off was scheduled for 6 p.m. MDT (7 p.m. CDT). The Spurs will look to maintain their momentum in the second half to prevent the series from slipping further out of their control.
