Projection software suggests over on total points despite Spurs being favourites

The SportsLine Projection Model has released its betting predictions for Game 2 of the 2026 NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs. Following the Knicks’ victory in Game 1, the model projects an 'Over' on the total points line of 214.5, estimating a combined score of 215 points. The model also identifies a spread pick with a win probability exceeding 50%, despite the Spurs currently being listed as 5.5-point favourites by FanDuel Sportsbook.

The projection highlights individual performances, anticipating Jalen Brunson to score 25 points and Victor Wembanyama to lead the Spurs with 29 points. Five Knicks players are projected to score in double figures, alongside six Spurs players. The model claims to have returned well over $10,000 in betting profit for $100 players on top-rated NBA picks over the past eight-plus seasons.

The model entered the 2026 NBA Finals on a 26-10 record (72%) on top-rated NBA spread picks this season. The SportsLine Projection Model, which simulates games 10,000 times, is projecting a combined score of 215 points for Game 2. This stands in contrast to Game 1, where the total was 200 points, resulting in the Under hitting.

During Game 1, a fan stormed the court at the Frost Bank Center in the fourth quarter to attempt a selfie with Victor Wembanyama while the Knicks led 92-86. Play was halted and later delayed due to a jump ball after Spurs guard Dylan Harper lost possession. The Knicks have cleared the total in four of their past six games.

Combined, the two teams allowed 219 points per game on defence and scored 236.6 points per game on offence during the season. Game 2 is scheduled for Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
