Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons are set to contest the decisive Game 7 of the 2026 NBA Eastern Conference second round on Sunday, 17 May 2026. The fixture, scheduled for a 8 p.m. ET tip-off at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, carries significant stakes for both franchises. Detroit enters the match as a 4.5-point favourite with FanDuel Sportsbook after securing a 115-94 victory in Game 6 to take a 3-2 series lead.

The Pistons, who finished the regular season with a 60-22 record to win the Central Division, are aiming for their first Eastern Conference finals appearance since the 2007-08 season. Conversely, the fourth-seeded Cavaliers, who finished second in the Central Division with a 52-30 record, are seeking their first appearance in the East Finals since the 2017-18 season. Cleveland holds an 18-9 all-time postseason advantage in the series history.

SportsLine’s projection model, which has simulated the game 10,000 times, predicts a combined total of 212 points. This projection supports a bet on the over for the 205.5-point total, a scenario that the model indicates will occur in 59 per cent of simulations. The model has demonstrated a strong track record, holding a 26-9 record, or 74 per cent, on top-rated NBA spread picks during the second week of the second round of the 2026 playoffs.

Individual player projections highlight Cade Cunningham as the leading scorer for Detroit, with 27.5 points forecast, while Donovan Mitchell is projected to lead Cleveland with 25.1 points. The model anticipates five Pistons players scoring 10.3 points or more and four Cavaliers players reaching at least 12.6 points. Duncan Robinson is listed as questionable for Detroit due to a back injury.

Historical data supports the expectation of a high-scoring affair, with the over hitting in three of the last four head-to-head meetings. The trend extends to Cleveland’s road games, where the over has hit in 26 of 47 contests, and in six of the last 10 Cavaliers games. The model also indicates that one side of the spread is projected to hit well over 60 per cent of the time.
