PlayStation FlexStrike wireless fight stick delayed without a firm release date
Competitive gaming peripheral misses August launch window; no new release date set

Sony has indefinitely delayed the release of the PlayStation FlexStrike wireless fight stick, pushing back the device’s launch from its original schedule of 6 August 2026. The Japanese technology giant cited unexpected production delays in an update posted to the PlayStation Blog, stating it would provide further information soon.

The FlexStrike, priced at $199.99, was designed to coincide with the release of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a 4v4 tag-team fighter developed by Arc System Works and published by Sony. The device, originally announced in June 2025 under the codename Project Defiant, is Sony’s first-party wireless fight stick, built specifically for competitive players who travel to tournaments.

In its statement, Sony apologised for the disruption, noting that the company is taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product. The firm confirmed that pre-order customers would receive updates from their respective retailers, while those who purchased directly from PlayStation could check their order status on the official website.

The peripheral is compatible with both PS5 and PC consoles. It features action buttons positioned on a slight incline, a touchpad above the buttons, and swappable restrictor gates to alter the impact zone. Connectivity is handled via a PlayStation Link USB adapter for wireless use or a low-latency wired USB-C connection.

Pre-orders for the bundle, which includes a sling carrying case, went live on 12 June 2025. With the indefinite delay, Sony has not provided a firm new release date, leaving the timeline for the device’s availability uncertain.
