SK Hynix to list on Nasdaq in $29 billion capital raise
The semiconductor giant aims to raise 45.45 trillion won through the American listing, following a period of heightened activity on US equity markets.

South Korea’s largest chipmaker, SK Hynix, has announced plans to list on the Nasdaq exchange in a move designed to raise approximately $29 billion. The capital raise will be facilitated by the issuance of 17.79 million new shares, with the offering valued at 45.45 trillion won, or roughly $29.65 billion.
The announcement marks a significant expansion for the semiconductor manufacturer into the US public markets. By choosing Nasdaq for its international listing, SK Hynix seeks to tap into the deep liquidity and investor base available in American capital markets. The specific allocation of the raised funds was not detailed in the initial report.
The timing of the listing follows a period of substantial activity on the Nasdaq. Earlier this month, the exchange hosted the debut of SpaceX shares, which saw a record-breaking initial public offering priced at $135. The aerospace company raised approximately $75 billion, valuing the enterprise at around $1.77 trillion and sending its stock up 27% in early trading.
US equity markets have shown modest gains recently, coinciding with the SpaceX debut and broader geopolitical developments, including reported progress toward an interim peace deal between the United States and Iran. These factors have contributed to a volatile but active trading environment on American exchanges.
SK Hynix’s entry into the Nasdaq adds another major player to the list of international technology firms seeking US listings. The move underscores the continued appetite among global semiconductor leaders to diversify their investor base and access capital through major American financial hubs.
