Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of T20I series against Ireland and England
BCCI Medical Team recommends rehabilitation for all-rounder following quadriceps flare-up

India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been excluded from the two-match T20I series against Ireland and the subsequent five-match series against England following a flare-up of a left quadriceps injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Reddy requires a period of rehabilitation, with the exact timeline for his return remaining unknown.

The injury initially manifested as discomfort after the third ODI against Afghanistan on June 20, leading to Reddy’s absence from the second ODI in Lucknow. Following a medical assessment, the BCCI Medical Team recommended the rehabilitation period, which effectively rules him out of both T20I series. Reddy had previously been selected for the ODI series against England, but his current status casts doubt on his availability for that tour as well.

Suryansh Shedge has been named as Reddy’s replacement in both squads. The selection follows a strong showing for India A in a recently concluded tri-series in Sri Lanka, where the 23-year-old scored 147 runs in five matches and bowled 23 overs. Shedge also performed prominently for Mumbai in the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, scoring 131 runs at a strike rate of 251.92 in the lower middle order.

The Indian team is departing for the Ireland series in batches to manage logistics. One group, including Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Morne Morkel, and T Dilip, departed from Chennai on Monday. The remaining players are scheduled to leave from Mumbai on Tuesday.

The updated squad for the Ireland and England T20Is is led by Shreyas Iyer, with Tilak Varma serving as vice-captain. The roster includes Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, and Prasidh Krishna. The two-match series against Ireland begins on June 26 in Belfast, with the first match scheduled for 1:30 pm local time.
