Rail operator confirms resumption of operations on Shinjuku and Haijima lines after morning disruption

Seibu Railway has announced the resumption of normal operations on the Seibu Shinjuku Line and Seibu Haijima Line. The decision follows a period of service suspension triggered by a personal injury accident at Higashi-Tachibana Station.

According to the operator, the disruption began around 6:30 am on 19 May 2026. The incident necessitated a full suspension of train services across both lines while authorities addressed the situation at the station.

Normal operations were restored at approximately 7:20 am. The total duration of the suspension was roughly 50 minutes, allowing commuters to return to standard schedules later in the morning.

The term "personal injury accident" is used by Japanese railway operators to describe incidents involving individuals on the tracks. Seibu Railway did not provide further details regarding the specific nature or cause of the event at Higashi-Tachibana Station.

The Seibu Shinjuku Line and Seibu Haijima Line serve as critical transit infrastructure for the Tokyo metropolitan area and Saitama Prefecture. Disruptions to these networks typically require coordinated responses involving police and medical services before services can safely resume.
