SEC releases 2026 baseball tournament bracket; Georgia secures top seed
The Southeastern Conference has confirmed the schedule and seeding for the 2026 baseball tournament, with Georgia claiming the regular-season title and the No. 1 seed after a long drought.

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has officially released the bracket and schedule for the 2026 baseball tournament, confirming a competitive field that deviates significantly from preseason expectations. Georgia has secured the regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed, marking the university’s first conference title since 2008. The tournament is scheduled to run from Tuesday, 19 May, through Sunday, 24 May, with games broadcast across the SEC Network and the championship game airing on ABC.
The seeding structure reflects a highly volatile season within the conference. Defending tournament champion Vanderbilt enters the competition as the No. 12 seed, while the preseason No. 1 ranked team, LSU, has been placed at No. 14. This arrangement suggests a challenging path for both institutions, with early-round matchups requiring immediate victories to maintain tournament viability.
First-round play begins on Tuesday, 19 May, featuring four primary matchups. No. 9 Ole Miss faces No. 16 Missouri at 10:30 a.m., followed by No. 12 Vanderbilt taking on No. 13 Kentucky at approximately 2 p.m. Later in the day, No. 10 Tennessee plays No. 15 South Carolina at 5:30 p.m., and No. 11 Oklahoma hosts No. 14 LSU at 9 p.m. All first-round games will be televised on the SEC Network.
The second round, scheduled for 20 to 23 May, will see the top seeds enter the fray. No. 1 Georgia will face the winner of the Ole Miss-Missouri contest, while No. 4 Alabama plays the victor of the Vanderbilt-Kentucky game. No. 2 Texas is set to play the winner of the Tennessee-South Carolina matchup, and No. 3 Texas A&M will face the winner of the Oklahoma-LSU game. Additional second-round games include No. 8 Mississippi State, No. 5 Florida, No. 7 Arkansas, and No. 6 Auburn competing against first-round winners.
The tournament concludes on Sunday, 24 May, with the championship game scheduled for 2 p.m. The final will determine the conference champion and will be broadcast on ABC. The bracket confirms the structural integrity of the tournament, with the top four seeds—Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M—positioned to avoid elimination until the later stages, provided they secure victories in the second round.
