Seahawks reportedly sign Trevon Diggs to one-year deal

The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with free-agent cornerback Trevon Diggs, according to ESPN. The 27-year-old joins the defending Super Bowl champions after completing a workout with the team on Tuesday. This move represents a significant reinforcement for the Seahawks' secondary just weeks before the start of the regular season.

The signing follows the Seahawks' agreement to terms with another cornerback, Terrion Arnold, earlier this week. However, Arnold has not yet been officially signed. Arnold was released by the Detroit Lions earlier in the summer after receiving eight felony charges and is expected to be placed on the commissioner's exempt list should his signing be finalised.

Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowler, spent the majority of his career with the Dallas Cowboys. He established himself as a top-tier defender in 2021 by leading the league with 11 interceptions, which earned him a first-team All-Pro selection. He followed that performance with a Pro Bowl selection in 2022, recording three interceptions and 14 passes defended.

Despite his early success, Diggs' availability has been limited by recurring health issues over the last three seasons. He sustained a torn ACL in September 2023 and underwent follow-up knee surgery in December 2024. These injuries, along with a knee injury and a concussion, limited him to just eight games during the 2025 season.

His recent tenure with other teams has been brief. Diggs was waived by the Dallas Cowboys late last season and was subsequently claimed by the Green Bay Packers. He appeared in two games and logged 34 snaps before Green Bay released him in January.

Over his 67 career games, Diggs has registered 20 interceptions and 63 passes defensed. The one-year deal with Seattle offers the veteran a chance to revive his career with a team that has demonstrated recent success on the field.
