Russian strikes kill three in Ukraine as Ukrainian drones hit Moscow logistics hub

At least three people have been killed and more than 10 injured in Ukraine following a fresh wave of Russian drone and missile strikes, according to officials. Firefighters are tackling a fire at a book market in Kyiv after it was hit overnight, with Mayor Vitali Klitschko reporting that at least six people, including a child, were injured in the capital.

In the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, regional head Ivan Fedorov confirmed that two people were killed when a Russian guided aerial bomb destroyed a house. Meanwhile, officials in Dnipropetrovsk reported one person killed and 14 injured from the same overnight offensive. Air-raid sirens sounded four times in Kyiv since Saturday night as the intensity of the attacks increased.

Ukraine reported shooting down three Russian missiles and nearly 100 drones during the assault. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that roughly a third of the approximately 600 Ukrainian drones launched at the capital were destroyed.

In a retaliatory strike, a Wildberries warehouse in Koledino, located 25km from central Moscow, was hit by Ukrainian drones. Sobyanin confirmed that three people were injured in the attack, which caused a large plume of smoke to rise from the facility. Wildberries, described as Russia’s version of Amazon, has been repeatedly targeted by Kyiv since July in an effort to disrupt military supply chains and logistics hubs.

The conflict’s reach extended beyond the immediate front lines as the Romanian defence ministry confirmed that a Spanish fighter jet shot down a drone that breached its airspace. The drone entered from Moldova and was intercepted by an F-18 deployed on NATO duties at 05:01 local time on Sunday. Debris fell in an unpopulated area of the Galati region, near the Ukrainian border, marking the fourth such incident in Romania this year.
