Esteury Ruiz hit a three-run double with two outs in the 11th inning to lift the Miami Marlins to a 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Ruiz’s drive off reliever Taylor Clarke scored Otto Lopez, Jared Serna and Kyle Stowers. Arizona responded with an RBI double from Ketel Marte, but Gabriel Moreno grounded out to end the game.

The Diamondbacks had an opportunity to gain ground in the National League wild-card race after the San Diego Padres lost to Colorado. Instead, they remained 2½ games behind the final playoff position with 10 games left.

Arizona took an early lead through Moreno’s solo home run before Griffin Conine tied the game for Miami in the fourth inning. The Diamondbacks nearly won in the 10th, but Perdomo was thrown out at home.

Arizona left 15 runners on base. Miami’s Josh Ekness pitched two innings to earn the win, while Nolan Arenado left the game early with right-thumb inflammation.

The result was reported by Yahoo Sports in an Associated Press account.
