Rousey ends Carano in 17 seconds at inaugural MVP MMA event
Heavy favourite Rousey secures immediate submission victory over Carano in return to the cage after nearly a decade, while co-main event sees Perry halt Diaz.

Ronda Rousey defeated Gina Carano via a 17-second armbar submission in the first round at the inaugural MVP MMA event on 17 May 2026. The featherweight main event, held at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, was broadcast live on Netflix and served as the debut for the promotion led by Jake Paul and associates.
Rousey, who had not competed in nearly 10 years, secured the victory immediately after taking Carano to the mat. Official results confirmed the win via submission at 0:17 of the first round, with Big John McCarthy refereeing the bout. Rousey entered as a massive -670 favourite on FanDuel, while Carano was listed as the underdog at +430.
The matchup featured two key figures in the history of women’s mixed martial arts. Carano had been out of action since 2009, following a loss to Cris Cyborg in what was the first major MMA event headlined by two women, drawing 576,000 viewers on Showtime. Rousey’s previous UFC run concluded with losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes between 2016 and 2019, after which she pursued ventures in WWE and Hollywood.
Carano’s career outside the cage included roles in major films and the Star Wars series The Mandalorian, which ended when Disney dismissed her for social media posts comparing the treatment of Republicans to victims of the Holocaust. Rousey, meanwhile, had built a brand extending beyond the 135-pound division, where she defended her UFC title multiple times.
In the welterweight co-main event, Mike Perry defeated Nate Diaz via doctor stoppage. The event aimed to establish MVP MMA as a credible contender in the global mixed martial arts market, leveraging significant name recognition to attract a worldwide audience through the streaming platform.
