Rodgers posts family photos as Steelers prepare for final season
The 42-year-old shared images with his parents and brother on Instagram, marking the first public display of reconciliation since the rift became public in 2016.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has posted five photographs on Instagram featuring his family, marking the first time he has shared images of his relatives since joining the platform in 2017. The posts, captioned "Another bonding week," include images with his mother Darla, father Ed, and brother Luke, as well as a photo of Rodgers and Luke assembling a toy, and another with his niece. This public display follows a decade-long estrangement that began around 2014 and became public in 2016.
Rodgers is preparing for his 22nd NFL season with the Steelers, reporting to training camp on 28 July 2026, a season he has indicated will be his final one. The reconciliation process reportedly began in July 2023 when Rodgers' father, Ed, attended the American Century Championship golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. Rodgers was unaware of his father's presence but initiated contact upon spotting him.
Both of Rodgers' parents attended his first game with the New York Jets in 2023, which was marred by Rodgers suffering a torn Achilles tendon in the first quarter. Rodgers recently revealed details about the estrangement in a 2024 Netflix documentary, citing disagreements over religion and his interest in alternative lifestyles, including ayahuasca.
Rodgers secretly married last year; the identity of his spouse has not been publicly confirmed in this report. Jordan Rodgers, Aaron's brother who was involved in the publicised 2016 incident on "The Bachelorette," was not included in the recent Instagram photos, despite marrying JoJo Fletcher in 2022.
The four-time MVP will be playing under new Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy, who also served as his head coach for 13 seasons in Green Bay. The timing of the social media posts coincides with Rodgers' transition into a new chapter with the Steelers, as he seeks to finalise his legacy on the field.
