Richard’s Rutgers status remains uncertain after positive injury update
Indiana coach Curt Cignetti says Turbo Richard is day to day after leaving the Northwestern game with a lower right leg injury.
Indiana running back Turbo Richard could be available for Saturday’s visit to Rutgers, but coach Curt Cignetti has not confirmed his return. Speaking at a Monday news conference, Cignetti said Richard had avoided a major leg injury, was day to day and that he was optimistic the back could play.
Richard left Friday’s 29-23 win over Northwestern after a two-yard run in the second quarter. No specific diagnosis was reported. He has 383 rushing yards and four touchdowns this season.
Lee Beebe Jr. replaced Richard against Northwestern and now leads Indiana with 398 rushing yards. Khobie Martin, another running back in the rotation, remains out with a broken arm; Cignetti gave no new update on his status.
Cignetti also said he expected linebacker Rolijah Hardy to be fine after Hardy left the Northwestern game with an undisclosed injury. His availability for Saturday was not confirmed.
Indiana is 4-0 and will visit Rutgers on Saturday.
