Real Madrid weigh long-term deal for Arda Güler after strong start
Reports citing Diario AS say Real Madrid are discussing improved terms for the 21-year-old, including a possible contract through 2031.
Real Madrid are reportedly negotiating a new contract for Arda Güler after the midfielder-turned-attacker’s strong start to the 2026–27 season under manager José Mourinho.
Yahoo Sports, citing Diario AS, reports that a proposed agreement could keep the 21-year-old at the club until 2031 and include an improved wage package. The talks have not been finalised, and details such as salary and other conditions have not been disclosed.
Güler has reportedly recorded one goal and one assist in four matches. Under Mourinho, he has moved from a midfield role used by previous coaches Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa to the right side of attack, a position he also played at Fenerbahçe.
His performances are said to have established him as a crucial first-team player and kept summer signing Yan Diomande out of the team. Real Madrid are reportedly seeking terms that reflect Güler’s increased role and provide greater protection if other clubs show interest.
The reported negotiations follow a significant change in the club’s assessment of Güler, whose future was said to have appeared uncertain about 15 months ago. Any proposed extension, including the 2031 end date and pay rise, remains conditional.
