Real Madrid finalise 2026-27 squad numbers following Rodri transfer rejection

Real Madrid has officially published its squad numbers for the 2026-27 season, a move that signals the club has largely finalised its roster following a summer of significant personnel changes. The publication of the list comes after the club made six new signings and saw a recent approach for Manchester City midfielder Rodri rejected, leading to expectations that no further transfers will be pursued.
The allocation of numbers reflects the departure of several key figures and the integration of new talent. Marc Cucurella has been assigned number 17, a shirt previously worn by Raul Asencio. Asencio has since moved to number 2, filling the vacancy left by Dani Carvajal’s departure from the club.
Defensive reinforcements have also been formalised in the squad list. Ibrahima Konaté has taken number 16, which was vacated by Gonzalo following his transfer to Fulham. Denzel Dumfries has been allocated number 24, replacing Dean Huijsen, who moved to number 4.
Midfield adjustments have been minimal, with established players retaining their positions. Bernardo Silva has been given number 20, previously worn by Fran Garcia, while Thiago Pitchar has received a first-team number, 27. Carlos Espi has taken number 19, vacated by Dani Ceballos, and new signing Yan Diomande has been assigned number 25.
In the attacking line, Endrick retains the number 9 jersey, maintaining the same allocation he held last season before his loan spell at Lyon.
