Rangers finalise £8.5m signing of South Korean winger Minsu Kim
The Ibrox club has completed the acquisition of the 20-year-old from Girona, marking their 12th summer addition ahead of the 3 September transfer deadline.
Rangers have secured the services of South Korean winger Minsu Kim from Spanish La Liga side Girona for a fee of £8.5m. The 20-year-old has signed an initial four-year contract with the option of a further 12 months, a move that underscores the club’s sustained investment in forward options during the current transfer window.
The signing is the club’s 12th of the summer, with manager Derek McInnes describing the acquisition as a key target to strengthen the squad’s attacking depth. Kim’s arrival comes just days before the Scottish Premiership transfer window closes at 5pm on 3 September.
Kim’s profile at Girona was built through consistent development, having joined the Spanish club in 2022. He made his La Liga debut in October 2024 and subsequently featured in the Champions League the following month. His most recent season was spent on loan at La Liga 2 club Andorra, where he recorded six goals and four assists.
The winger is not included in Rangers’ squad for tonight’s Conference League play-off second leg against Jablonec, where the Ibrox side holds a 1-0 lead. Consequently, Kim could make his debut in the domestic league against Aberdeen on Sunday.
While the Kim deal is confirmed, the transfer picture at Ibrox remains fluid. Striker Kevin Kelsy is expected to join after a £9.2m agreement with Portland Timbers, while midfielder Nicolas Raskin has been left behind in Glasgow due to growing interest from clubs in Spain, Italy, France, and England.
McInnes acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Raskin, noting that the 25-year-old’s departure is a possibility the club is actively monitoring. However, the confirmed arrival of Kim provides immediate stability to the forward line as the club prepares for the new season.
