Rams defensive line rebuild hinges on Braden Fiske recovery and secondary integration for 2026 campaign

The Los Angeles Rams are positioning their defensive strategy for the 2026 season around the expectation that Braden Fiske will return to the form displayed in his rookie campaign. Following a significant decline in sack production from 11 in 2024 to five in 2025, the organisation is banking on the defensive lineman recovering from an oblique injury that limited his availability during the second half of the previous season.

While Fiske's pass rush metrics remained consistent with his rookie year despite the lower sack total, his overall output was suppressed by a reduction in snaps and an increase in double teams. The drop in production occurred after he suffered the injury in Week 2, causing him to miss time in Weeks 3 and 4, which restricted his ability to generate pressure against opposing quarterbacks.

Analysts indicate that a healthier Fiske, combined with an improved secondary acquired from the Kansas City Chiefs, could lead to a breakout season.
