Ramos capitalises on costly error in Portugal win over Norway
Portugal beat Norway 2–1 in Oslo to make it two wins from two in their Group A4 title defence, with Gonçalo Ramos scoring after a misplaced pass from goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland.
Portugal’s 2–1 win over Norway in Oslo leaves the holders with a perfect start to their UEFA Nations League title defence. Gonçalo Ramos scored the winner after João Félix opened the scoring and Erling Haaland equalised.
Félix put Portugal ahead in the 17th minute with a finish from the edge of the box. Haaland levelled six minutes into the second half, turning in Patrick Berg’s header across goal.
Norway’s response was brief. Nyland passed the ball straight to Ramos, who chipped it into the net to restore Portugal’s lead. A later Ramos goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.
Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa had earlier denied Haaland, including with a save from a downward header. Norway pushed forward in the closing stages but could not find another equaliser.
Ramos started as Cristiano Ronaldo was named among the substitutes and did not play. Portugal had beaten Wales 1–0 on Thursday; Norway began its campaign with a 3–2 win over Denmark.
