Quincy Porter ruled out for Notre Dame’s season after MRI

Notre Dame receiver Quincy Porter will miss the rest of the season after doctors recommended surgery on his patellar tendon, coach Marcus Freeman said on Monday. The decision followed an MRI over the weekend.
Porter transferred from Ohio State and has not played for Notre Dame this season. He had surgery in January after injuring his left knee with the Buckeyes.
Freeman said Porter underwent another procedure about a month ago and was nearing a return before a flare-up. The recovery had been difficult, he said.
Notre Dame had hoped Porter could return to add depth to its receiving group. The Irish entered the report 4-0 and were due to play North Carolina on Saturday.
Freeman gave no date for the recommended surgery or a return timeline.
