Pulisic Question Hangs Over USA’s First Post-World Cup Squad
Fox Sports has predicted a blended squad of young players and World Cup veterans as the USA begins its 2030 cycle.
The United States men’s national team is expected to announce its first squad after the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday, ahead of exhibition matches against Peru, Chile, Canada and Mexico.
Fox Sports described its proposed roster as an “educated guess”, with Christian Pulisic’s possible recall the central uncertainty. Pulisic had limited involvement in AC Milan’s first three matches of the new season before appearing as a substitute and assisting against Lazio.
Sixteen-year-old Cavan Sullivan is reportedly likely to receive an invitation after a strong run for Philadelphia Union. Fox Sports said Sullivan had recorded five goals and six assists across seven consecutive matches with goal contributions.
Coach Mauricio Pochettino reportedly indicated that the camp would combine younger players with World Cup veterans. He appeared to suggest that about 30 players, including four goalkeepers, could be called in, although the final squad may be smaller.
The selection would begin the United States’ 2030 World Cup cycle. Pochettino has reportedly signed a new four-year contract after the 2026 tournament, while the official roster remains unconfirmed.
