PSG face hostile Allianz Arena as Goretzka warns of 'fire' in Champions League semi-final return

Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has issued a stark warning to Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the Champions League semi-final second leg, stating that the Allianz Arena will be on fire for the home side. Despite the French champions holding a 5-4 aggregate advantage following a 3-3 draw in Paris, Goretzka emphasised that the Bavarians are determined to reach the final and will utilise the atmosphere to their full advantage.

The 31-year-old, who is set to depart the club after eight years in June, indicated that he is unlikely to start the match despite his recent form. Goretzka scored twice in a 3-3 home draw against Heidenheim on Saturday and expressed a desire to sign off with another treble to match the 2020 feat, though his specific starting lineup for the return fixture remains unconfirmed.

Conversely, PSG manager Luis Enrique has voiced regret over the first-leg result, citing the challenges of motivating his squad for the domestic Ligue 1 title after such a high-stakes European fixture. The Spaniard admitted it is difficult to drive players forward for league action immediately following a match in such a great atmosphere, leading him to rotate much of his line-up for the return game.

Both clubs enter the return match at the Allianz Arena off the back of domestic draws, with Bayern Munich holding a 3-3 result against Heidenheim and PSG securing a 2-2 home draw with Lorient ahead of the clash. While Bayern have long wrapped up the Bundesliga title, the capital club still have work to do to secure the league crown after Saturday's stalemate with Lorient.

Goretzka told reporters that the team is now about pooling their strength and gathering themselves to put everything on the line in the upcoming contest.
