F1 great Prost 'injured as masked gang raid home'
Four-time Formula One world champion targeted in Nyon incident

Four-time Formula One world champion Alain Prost, 71, sustained a head injury during a violent home invasion at his residence in Nyon, located approximately 25km north of Geneva. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, prompting a significant law enforcement response and a large-scale search operation involving both Swiss and French authorities.

According to a statement from the Vaud cantonal police force, several masked individuals entered the property around 8:30am. Once inside, the group threatened the occupants and slightly injured one family member in the head. The circumstances surrounding the injury remain under investigation, and police have not released the specific identities of those targeted, confirming only that a family was involved.

The intruders compelled another family member to open a safe before fleeing the scene. Swiss tabloid Blick reported that Prost’s son was forced to open the safe, although police have not explicitly confirmed this detail. The value and nature of the items stolen are currently being assessed by authorities.

A large-scale search operation has been launched to locate the perpetrators, with cooperation extended to French police and border security agencies. In addition to the manhunt, a psychological support team has been deployed to assist the family affected by the raid.

Prost, a French former racing driver, secured world titles in 1985, 1986, 1989, and 1993 during a 13-year career that included stints with McLaren, Renault, Ferrari, and Williams. He remains one of the most successful drivers in the sport’s history, with only Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, and Juan Manuel Fangio having won more world championships.
