Price double gives West Brom turnaround win over Burnley
Championship

West Bromwich Albion extended their flawless start to the campaign with a 3-1 victory over Burnley at The Hawthorns on Sunday. The result marks the Baggies’ third consecutive win in all competitions, maintaining their 100 per cent record as they sit second in the Sky Bet Championship table behind Millwall on goal difference.

The match began with an early setback for the hosts when Callum Styles headed the ball into his own net in the eighth minute. The goal resulted from a cross by Jacob Bruun Larsen, and while Albion players complained of a foul by Hannibal Mejbri on Felix Horn Myhre in the build-up, the referee allowed the goal to stand.

Harry Whitwell restored parity for West Brom in the 18th minute, slotting home from 12 yards to score his first league goal for the club. Burnley, who were missing star striker Zian Flemming due to injury amid reported interest from Lille, had a chance to retake the lead when Larsen struck the foot of the post from a Marcus Edwards cross.

The dynamic shifted decisively after the break, with Northern Ireland international Isaac Price driving the hosts to victory. Price took the lead in the 46th minute by curling the ball into the far corner, catching Burnley goalkeeper Max Weiss out of position.

Price completed his double shortly after the hour mark when he converted a penalty. The spot kick was awarded after Bashir Humphreys brought down Whitwell, and Price fired low to the keeper’s right to effectively seal the result.

For Burnley, the defeat marks their first loss of the season. New manager Nicky Hayen remains without a Championship win, a notable oversight given the club’s status as promotion favourites for the current campaign.
