Premier League bids for Bundesliga midfielders as valuation gaps persist

Crystal Palace are advancing their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Farès Chaïbi, with reports indicating that a formal offer may be imminent. According to Sport Bild, while no official proposal has yet reached Frankfurt, the Premier League club is preparing to make a concrete move for the Algeria international. Chaïbi’s versatility, allowing him to operate centrally or further forward, has previously attracted attention from Aston Villa and Brentford, with his recent World Cup performances further elevating his profile.

For Eintracht Frankfurt, the potential departure of Chaïbi appears manageable within their broader squad strategy. The club has reportedly structured its preferred midfield partnership around new signings Noël Aséko and Raphael Onyedika, meaning the exit of the 2023 arrival would not disrupt their tactical plans. Chaïbi has established himself as a regular for the Algerian national team since joining the RheinMainAdler, providing a stable option for English scouts monitoring the Bundesliga.

Concurrently, Bayer Leverkusen face a significant personnel decision regarding Exequiel Palacios, who has explicitly requested a transfer. The Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger reports that the 27-year-old has formally informed the club of his desire to leave, marking a shift from previous speculation that he was merely considering a move. Palacios had initially favoured a transfer to an established English top club but has reportedly become open to joining Ipswich Town, the newly promoted Premier League side.

Financial negotiations between Ipswich Town and Bayer Leverkusen remain the primary obstacle to a deal. Palacios is said to have reduced his financial demands to facilitate the move, yet a substantial valuation gap persists. Ipswich have reportedly offered approximately €20m, while Leverkusen value the midfielder at around €35m. This discrepancy highlights the economic challenges facing newly promoted clubs attempting to secure established Bundesliga talent.

The situation presents a strategic dilemma for Ipswich, as Palacios remains a projected starter under Carles Martínez.
