Preece’s Kansas top 10 leaves a 173-point Chase gap

Ryan Preece finished 10th at Kansas Speedway after starting ninth, earning 27 points in a result that did little to shift his Chase position, according to Yahoo Sports.
The RFK Racing driver narrowly avoided a multicar crash on the Lap 121 restart. He remained on the lead lap through the final stage and secured a place inside the top 10.
Yahoo Sports places Preece 14th in the Chase standings on 2,109 points, 173 behind Kyle Larson, with six races remaining.
The report says Preece will need victories or substantially larger points hauls to reduce that deficit. His Kansas finish avoided further damage to his position, but left the gap intact.
