When will USMNT World Cup roster be revealed? Mauricio Pochettino set to announce final 26-man squad
Coach marks longest pre-tournament window with senior side ahead of home World Cup

Mauricio Pochettino is set to reveal the United States men’s national team’s final 26-man roster for the upcoming World Cup on 26 May. The announcement will be delivered during a televised event in New York City, marking a significant logistical step in the team’s preparations for the tournament hosted on home soil.

The roster reveal is structured as a broadcast event, with the announcement scheduled to air on FOX from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET. This follows a fan celebration at the Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City, which will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET on the same day. All players expected to be in the final squad will participate in the event, with the exception of Chris Richards.

Richards’ attendance is contingent on his club commitments with Crystal Palace, who are set to play in the Europa Conference League final on 27 May. Despite dealing with a foot injury, Richards remains available for the tournament, with medical assessments indicating the issue is not expected to be serious.

The announcement comes after a period of intense competition for squad spots. Pochettino has acknowledged the difficulty of the selection process, noting that the competition for places is fierce. The squad will subsequently travel to a new training centre in Fayette County, Georgia, to begin official World Cup preparations.

Injuries have already impacted the final composition of the squad, with Johnny Cardoso and Patrick Agyemang ruled out of the tournament. Following the roster announcement, the team will face Senegal and Germany in friendlies before their World Cup journey officially begins against Paraguay.

This event initiates the longest period Pochettino has had with the senior national team ahead of a tournament, allowing for tactical adjustments. As this marks Pochettino’s first foray into international management, the extended preparation window provides a cadence similar to club management, offering stability ahead of the high-pressure tournament.
