Philips Hue’s budget-friendly Essential starter kit has hit a new low price
Four-bulb bundle matches two-bulb price, offering significant discount during Amazon Prime Day

The Philips Hue Essential starter kit has reached a new all-time low price of $79.99 at Amazon, marking a $40 discount from its standard retail cost. The bundle comprises four E26 colour smart bulbs and a Hue Bridge, with the pricing now matching that of the two-bulb Essential version. This price parity effectively offers two additional bulbs for free, representing one of the few remaining significant deals from Amazon’s Prime Day sales event.

The included bulbs are capable of displaying millions of colours and tunable white light ranging from 2200K to 6500K, with a maximum brightness of 800 lumens. The package also includes a Matter-compatible Hue Bridge, which serves as a central hub for smart home automation. This bridge enables remote control, scheduling, and integration with major smart home platforms, allowing users to set automations such as lights turning on upon arrival.

While the deal provides substantial value for entry-level smart lighting, the Essential kit lacks certain premium features found in Philips Hue’s flagship models. The bulbs only dim to two percent, rather than the 0.2 percent dimming capability found in higher-end products. Additionally, Philips Hue does not guarantee colour accuracy consistency across generations for these budget-friendly kits.

Other Philips Hue products have also seen price reductions during the Prime Day period, including the Twilight Sleep and Wake-Up Light, which are now cheaper than their pre-sale prices. However, most of the unusually good deals associated with the event have concluded, leaving the four-bulb Essential kit as a standout offer for consumers looking to expand their smart lighting setups.

The E26 bulb variant is standard in North American markets, and the bundle is designed to connect up to 50 lights throughout a home. Users can utilise the Hue app to select preset lighting scenes or create custom configurations, leveraging the Matter compatibility to ensure interoperability with various ecosystems.
