Scheffler and Spieth among contenders at TPC Craig Ranch following major championship

The PGA Tour has commenced the 2026 CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, marking the second leg of the annual “Texas two-step” following the second major championship of the season. The tournament begins its final round with Scottie Scheffler positioned as the heavy favourite to defend his title, having won the event last year by eight shots.

The field features notable competitors including Jordan Spieth, who is attempting to secure his first PGA Tour win since 2022, and Brooks Koepka. Koepka is currently aiming to climb the rankings to qualify for one of the final two signature events of the season. He started the final round with a 63, described as his best round of the season, although he has since fallen back in the standings.

Si Woo Kim enters the final round as the 54-hole leader, starting at 21 under par after shooting a low round of the week with a 60 on Friday. Scheffler is just two shots behind the South Korean golfer as the players prepare for a day where aggressive scoring is expected.

The tournament follows a “wild week” at the PGA Championship, where Aaron Rai emerged as a surprising major winner. Unlike the conservative play required at the major, players are expected to adopt an aggressive approach at this event, with winning scores in the last seven years consistently reaching at least 23 under par.

Television coverage of the final round is available on CBS and Golf Channel, with streaming options provided via Paramount+ and the CBS Sports App. The event continues the PGA Tour’s annual swing through Texas, with viewers able to follow the action through PGA Tour Live and dedicated online platforms.
