Panthers manage minor injury concerns ahead of Hall of Fame game

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales addressed the media regarding the physical condition of several key players following Sunday’s training camp practice. The updates come as the franchise navigates a series of minor ailments that have emerged during the early stages of pre-season preparations.

Right guard Robert Hunt and cornerback Mike Jackson were both sidelined for a second consecutive practice due to back tightness. Canales described the condition as "not significant," noting that Hunt is "trending in the right direction" and is expected to return "pretty quickly." Jackson also showed positive signs, with the coach highlighting a productive day of running and effective treatment.

Canales characterised the back issues as "camp back," a term used for injuries that typically surface when players first compete at full intensity. He indicated that the team is leveraging the upcoming Hall of Fame game as a strategic buffer, allowing medical staff to implement treatment plans and manage player loads before the regular season begins.

Rookie wide receiver Chris Brazzell II was also held out of practice, though for a different reason. The third-round pick from the 2026 NFL draft was sidelined with "a little knee soreness." Canales stated that the team is monitoring the issue closely and administering treatment, with the aim of reintegrating the player as soon as possible.

Brazzell has drawn attention for his performance during spring organised team activities and mandatory minicamp. Canales previously praised the rookie’s combination of size and speed, suggesting he is positioned to become a significant contributor in the Panthers’ passing attack once fully healthy.
