Packers set to place Jayden Reed on injured reserve after neck injury

Green Bay Packers receiver Jayden Reed is set to go on injured reserve and undergo neck surgery, ending his season, coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday. The team has not provided a surgery date or recovery timeline.
Reed was injured on 20 September against the New York Jets and was carted from the field. He had four catches for 24 yards this season before the injury.
Asked whether the injury could end Reed’s career, LaFleur said that, from his understanding, it would not, but Reed would be out for a significant time. No medical prognosis was reported.
It is the second consecutive season Reed has gone on injured reserve early. He broke his collarbone in Week 2 last season and returned in Week 14.
The Packers extended Reed for three years and $50.25 million in April. In his first two seasons, he was the team’s leading receiver.
