Atlético de Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios has been ruled out of the club’s match against Real Sociedad in San Sebastián after medical tests identified a low-grade myofascial injury in his right leg.

Atlético said Barrios would not travel for the fixture. The midfielder reportedly finished the club’s match against Liverpool with discomfort before undergoing tests by Atlético’s medical staff.

His availability for the midweek match against Osasuna is uncertain, as is his involvement in the derby against Real Madrid on 20 September.

No confirmed recovery timeframe has been provided. A return after the international break has been reported as a possibility, but Atlético has not established a definitive date.
