Olivia Miles wins unanimous WNBA Rookie of the Year
Miles set a rookie scoring record with 770 points as Minnesota finished the regular season with the league’s best record.
Olivia Miles has been unanimously named the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year after her first season with the Minnesota Lynx, Yahoo Sports reported.
Across 40 games, Miles averaged 19.8 points, six assists and 4.7 rebounds. She scored 770 points, surpassing the previous rookie record of 769 held by Caitlin Clark.
The No. 2 draft pick from TCU led Minnesota in points and assists. The Lynx finished 33–11, the league’s best record, and secured the No. 1 playoff seed.
Minnesota played all but 16 games without Napheesa Collier, who was sidelined for much of the season with injuries to both ankles, according to the report.
At the time of Yahoo Sports’ report, the Lynx had lost Game 1 of their best-of-three playoff series against the New York Liberty and needed a Game 2 win to force a deciding game.
