OKC Metro High School Sports Awards honour record-breaking athletic achievements
The 2025-26 OKC Metro High School Sports Awards, held at the Young Family Athletic Center, recognised outstanding performances from Matthews, Beller, and numerous other student-athletes.

The 2025-26 OKC Metro High School Sports Awards ceremony took place on Thursday, June 11, at the Young Family Athletic Center in Oklahoma City. Presented by Landmark Fine Homes, the event honoured more than 300 athletes from the metropolitan area, recognising excellence across 23 sports. The awards programme included Players of the Year for each sport, alongside overall honours for boys and girls athlete of the year, coach of the year, team of the year, and the Courage Award.
Notable recipients included Matthews from Carl Albert, who guided his team to a state-record 20th state championship. Matthews finished the season with 254 carries for 2,033 yards and a program-record 44 rushing touchdowns. Beller also secured significant recognition, winning four state championships across multiple sports, including fastpitch softball, slowpitch softball, basketball, and track.
Beller played key roles on all four championship teams and served as a kicker on the football team under coach Brad Beller. Kelby Beller will continue her athletic career in basketball at Southwestern Oklahoma State. The ceremony highlighted the breadth of athletic talent in the region, with honourees demonstrating dominance in both individual and team competitions.
Other standout performances included Millwood, which won its 19th state championship, extending its record for the most state titles in Oklahoma high school basketball history. Dorrian Williams’ Falcons squad claimed the second straight title, led by Isaiah Wilks, Amari Barrett, and Jonathan Vanburen. Wilks averaged 23.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 3.6 steals per game, powering an unbeaten in-state run in 2026.
The awards also celebrated resilience and historic breakthroughs. Minco’s baseball team captured attention after a horrific rollover bus accident in September 2025, making an emotional return to the field in the spring to mark the program's first trip to the state slowpitch tournament since 1994. Additionally, Cole led Norman to its first Class 6A state championship since 1999, breaking through after the Tigers had not won a state tournament game since 2000.
Prestridge led Westmoore to the Class 6A state tournament for the first time in 10 years, averaging 21.4 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. A four-star prospect, she was named the Gatorade Oklahoma Player of the Year and will continue her career at the University of Arkansas. Watson led Tuttle to the Class 4A state title with a 0.23 ERA and a .505 batting average, while Adedeji led Edmond Memorial to its second straight Class 6A volleyball championship with 287 kills.
The event concluded with recognition of athletes such as Green, who recorded 68 tackles and seven interceptions for Choctaw, and Baker, who went 14-5 in the circle with a 0.71 ERA for Edmond Memorial. The comprehensive list of honourees underscored the high level of competition and achievement within the Oklahoma City high school sports landscape.
