Ohtani to go on injured list as Dodgers manage late-season injuries
Shohei Ohtani has missed six of the Dodgers’ last seven games with soreness in his right biceps and left knee, with his pitching return now unlikely this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says Shohei Ohtani will be placed on the injured list after the four-time MVP missed six of the team’s last seven games with lingering soreness in his right biceps and left knee.
Roberts told Fox Sports that the move was “the right thing to do” after the Dodgers defeated the Cincinnati Reds 14–1 on Wednesday with Ohtani sidelined. He said Ohtani would have been in the lineup if the game had been a postseason contest.
Ohtani is expected to focus on hitting for the remainder of the season. Asked about pitching again this season, he said through interpreter Will Ireton: “Most likely, no.”
The decision affects a key player in the Dodgers’ pursuit of a third consecutive World Series title, while the available material does not specify when Ohtani will formally go on the injured list or how long he will remain there.
The Dodgers have a day off on Thursday before beginning a seven-game road trip in Miami on Friday. Top prospect Josue De Paula is expected to join the team there.
