Ohtani omitted from Dodgers lineup after one-game return

Shohei Ohtani has been left out of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup against the Cincinnati Reds, one day after returning from a four-game absence.

Yahoo Sports reported that Ohtani’s omission follows reported soreness in his left knee and bicep. No formal diagnosis or decision on an injured-list stint has been reported.

Ohtani returned against Cincinnati on Monday but went 0-for-3, striking out once and walking once. His recent offensive form has also become a concern, with the report placing him at 6-for-52 and below his usual slugging levels.

The two-way star last pitched on 3 July after left knee irritation emerged. His return to the mound has since been delayed several times, while he has continued working as a hitter.

The Dodgers’ next decision is whether Ohtani requires further rest, more time out of the lineup or a stint on the injured list. His next appearance or pitching return remains unclear.
