Ohio and Nebraska open 2026 college football seasons in Lincoln
The Ohio Bobcats are scheduled to visit Nebraska on 5 September, with the Cornhuskers listed as a substantial DraftKings favourite despite an unsettled quarterback position.

Ohio and Nebraska are scheduled to begin their 2026 seasons at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Saturday 5 September at 12pm ET. Both teams enter the opener with records of 0–0.
DraftKings lists Nebraska as a 23.5-point favourite, with the over-under set at 46.5. The figures are sportsbook odds and may change before kick-off.
Fox Sports reports that Nebraska held the passing advantage between the teams in 2025, averaging 224.6 yards per game to Ohio’s 184.2. Ohio led in rushing, averaging 227.4 yards compared with Nebraska’s 145.9.
Ohio defender Eli Thompson is among the players highlighted by Fox Sports. He joins the Bobcats after recording 85 total tackles, four interceptions, a sack and 5.5 tackles for loss at Holy Cross last season.
Nebraska’s starting quarterback remains unsettled, with senior transfer Colandrea described as the leading candidate. Fox Sports reports that coach Matt Rhule has won at least seven games in each of his first two seasons in Lincoln, while Nebraska has lost 29 consecutive games against AP-ranked opponents.
