Notre Dame pulls away from Wisconsin in Lambeau Field opener

No. 4 Notre Dame overcame a competitive first half to defeat Wisconsin 41-13 at Lambeau Field, pulling clear in the second half of the college football season opener.

Notre Dame led 13-10 at half-time before scoring 28 points after the break. Aneyas Williams ran for 90 yards and two touchdowns, including scores on drives to open the second half and near the end of the third quarter.

Quarterback CJ Carr completed 19 of 29 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns. His scoring throws went to James Flanigan and Nolan James Jr., while DJ McKinney returned an interception 55 yards for another Notre Dame touchdown.

Spencer Porath added field goals from 52 and 26 yards for Notre Dame. Wisconsin’s points included a 28-yard touchdown pass from Colton Joseph to Malachi Coleman and two field goals from Gavin Lahm.

The game was the first college football match at Lambeau Field since 2016, when Wisconsin defeated fifth-ranked LSU 16-14. Notre Dame entered the season seeking to strengthen its College Football Playoff case after being omitted last season despite winning its final 10 regular-season games by double-digit margins.
