Nixa defeated Republic 49-6 in Southwest Missouri high school football on 11 September, producing a decisive result against a Republic side that entered the game with a 2-1 record.

Quarterback Adam McKnight rushed for three touchdowns and passed for another. Jax Adams added an 87-yard rushing touchdown, while Joshua Ford scored Nixa’s final touchdown.

The defining moment came in the third quarter when senior linebacker Chris Henegar intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown. Henegar said the play was a form of redemption after dropped interceptions last season.

Nixa’s defence forced three turnovers and held Republic to one touchdown. The Tigers had previously rushed for 358 yards against Lebanon and 485 against Kickapoo, but their only score came on a short first-half rushing touchdown by Noah Lashley.

The Springfield News-Leader reported that Nixa’s defensive performance was supported by preparation from its scout and junior-varsity teams. Nixa is scheduled to play unbeaten Webb City next week, while Republic is scheduled to host Ozark.
