NFL suspends Cowboys’ Snowden for three games following DUI plea deal
The league office confirmed the disciplinary action against Charles Snowden, who joined Dallas in June after a 2024 arrest in Las Vegas resulted in a reckless driving conviction.
The National Football League has suspended Dallas Cowboys defensive end Charles Snowden for the first three games of the upcoming season. The suspension follows a plea agreement reached in January regarding a 2024 driving under the influence charge that occurred while Snowden was a member of the Las Vegas Raiders.
According to police reports from Las Vegas, Snowden was found passed out behind the wheel of a running Jeep Cherokee that had nearly rolled off a four-foot retaining wall. Blood tests administered at the time recorded blood alcohol concentrations of 0.18 and 0.19, figures that are more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.
Under the terms of the plea deal, Snowden entered a no-contest plea, which resulted in the charge being conditionally reduced from a misdemeanor DUI to reckless driving. As part of the agreement, he was required to pay a $1,000 fine and attend both coroner’s and DUI education classes.
Snowden joined the Cowboys in June on a one-year, $1.1 million contract after previously playing for the Chicago Bears in 2021 and the Raiders from 2024 to 2025. During his two seasons with Las Vegas, he appeared in 31 games, recording 4.5 sacks, 67 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and 11 quarterback hits.
The NFL stated that Snowden is eligible to participate in all preseason activities, including games. His suspension will officially take effect once the Cowboys reduce their roster to 53 players. The disciplinary measure aligns with the league’s Personal Conduct Policy as the Cowboys seek to return to the playoffs after missing the postseason in both 2024 and 2025.
