NFL reviews Ravens receiver Rashod Bateman’s June arrest in domestic violence case
The league is assessing the incident under its personal conduct policy after the Baltimore Ravens confirmed they were aware of the arrest in Walton County, Georgia.
The Baltimore Ravens have formally notified the NFL that wide receiver Rashod Bateman was arrested in June in Georgia over a domestic violence incident. League spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed on Friday that the case is currently under review pursuant to the league’s personal conduct policy.
The Ravens stated in a statement that they are aware of the arrest and have been in direct contact with Bateman. The club indicated that it has been cooperating with the league office throughout the process. As the legal matter remains pending, the team said it would withhold further comment.
According to court documents cited by TMZ, the incident occurred around 6 a.m. on 6 June in Walton County, Georgia. The documents indicate that Bateman used an object to smash the driver’s side window of a vehicle. The shattered glass caused multiple small lacerations to the face of the driver, who was identified as the mother of Bateman’s child. TMZ reported that a three-month-old infant was inside the vehicle at the time.
Bateman’s representatives stated that the receiver turned himself in to the Walton County sheriff’s office on the day of the incident. He faces misdemeanor charges including criminal property damage, reckless conduct, and battery, all classified as family violence. A court later granted Bateman’s request to lift a no-contact order after he claimed the victim indicated she wanted contact.
Bateman’s attorney, Jordan Siev, described the situation as a “personal family situation” that had been taken “completely out of context for sensational reasons.” Siev told The Associated Press that the family intends to let the court process play out, stating that the facts will emerge at that time.
The arrest occurs at a pivotal moment for the 26-year-old, who signed a $37 million, three-year contract extension last year following career-best performances in 2024. However, his production dipped in the 2025 season, where he recorded career-low statistics with 224 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
