The National Football League has rescinded a $14,926 fine against San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk over a touchdown celebration in the team’s Week 2 win against the Miami Dolphins.

The league initially classified the gesture as an “offensive demonstration”, reportedly believing Juszczyk was pretending to chug a beer. It later determined the celebration did not warrant a fine.

Juszczyk said after the game that the gesture was an ode to his nickname, “Juice”. The touchdown catch extended San Francisco’s lead to 28–6 late in the third quarter.

The rescission removes the penalty imposed over a celebration whose meaning Juszczyk had explained after the game. The NFL’s reasoning for reversing the fine was not quoted in the source report.
